There is a simple way to buy Thai silk and know that you have bought something of value. Just go to the villages, outside the big tourist center of Bangkok, and find the simple village weavers who work on their traditional hand-looms and buy silk from them. Just look at their small pile of fabric ready for sale, and you will wonder how the tourists back in steamy, teeming Bangkok can ever be satisfied with and machine made silk fabric they buy from air conditioned tourist shops in the down town areas of that great city. It is out in the villages, where hand woven silk fabric is made that you will find authentic silk. So buy it there and you will be satisfied.
