Attracting Hummingbirds

April 20th, 2010

This was the second hummingbird feeder I tried out this year. The first was the upside down bottle type and we had nothing but problems with it. The birds used it, but the feeder leaked horribly bad and made a terrible mess. So I decided to give this style a try. At first I was nervous because the birds weren’t using it, but I decided to be patient. After about a week, I saw one little guy hovering above the feeder eating. After that I slowly started to see more and more. At first they didn’t use the perches at all, but after a few more weeks they seemed to figure out what they were for. Now I see on average 25-35 hummingbirds a day. They love this feeder. Since it has the perches they spend a long time at it. This feeder is easy to clean too. My only complaint is that when the wind blows, the Perky Pet Hummingbird Feeder does tend to leak a little from where the top and bottom snap together. They should have designed it a little better so there is no leaking. Learn more about garden products
