Haha, funny pick up lines

I can’t believe some guys would use those corny lines. I was reading an interesting article about why guys use funny pick up lines… and it makes some good points.
But I still don’t get it? What’s the big deal? Why can’t guys just walk up to a woman and introduce themselves? Is that too easy? Too plain? Too boring? Not silly enough?I really am mystified by this phenomenon. If anyone can explain to me why guys still choose these pick up lines and stuff, please let me know! If you don’t believe me, google for pick up lines and see how many websites and interest there is on the subject!
