Learn film terms and language from your mistakes

June 7th, 2010

The key to successful movie making is a thorough understanding of your craft. One way to do this is to begin by working on other people’s film and movie projects. Even if you understand very little about film language you start at the bottom and work up as you would with every industry. Experience comes through persistence and also working with other knowledgeable people who can guide you. Nearly everyone you meet is happy to share what they know with someone eager to learn. This way even if you make many mistakes you will learn more from those than your successes because what we do wrong teaches us never to do that again.
