Items to Think of for Teacher Certification

October 8th, 2011

Are you interested in teacher certification, and not certain where to start? If so, here are some items that you should think of. First of all, you must choose which state you’re interested in teaching in. Why that should be the first step is primarily because it is important to understand what rules and/or guidelines you should go by. Each state has their list of guidelines. However, if you are interested in teaching in more than one state, you need to look at any reciprocity rules that the state may have. Secondly, you need to consider what topic or subject you want to teach. Each subject could require you to possess either a degree, or a minimum number of credits just before you’re eligible to teach. Additionally, you need to figure out if there are a multitude of jobs in that particular area, as some subjects have more requirements than others. For example if you answer those two test questions, you’re on the correct track to getting your teacher certification.
