Stuffed Single Mattress Drawbacks
December 19th, 2009
Futon style single mattresses are stuffed old-world style mattresses. These tend to have no metal or wood internal parts and instead opt for more of a free-form shell filled with foam, feathers, or cotton stuffing. For this reason, stuffed single mattresses are not recommended for allergy sufferers. These mattresses are very short of life. They tend to get lumpy and have areas where the stuffing may become thin. They work well as temporary bedding, inserts into fold-out type beds, and as the ultimate choice in a pillow-top. Stuffed single mattresses can be expected to need replacement in three to five years if they are regularly used.
