Choose to Love

My in-laws are an excellent example for marriage building. I’m so thankful that my husband had their example growing up as it has taught us how to also be Marriage Builders. The thing that stands out to me most is how they walk in love toward one another. For almost fifty years now, they continue to defer to one another on issues that important to the other, and they still hold hands, hug and kiss, comfort and care for one another. My father-in-law still brings home flowers every Friday to my mother-in-law. A tradition he began when they were first married and hasn’t ceased, except when they go on vacation, at which point, my-father-in-law will purchase something special for her. I asked my mother-in-law what stood out most to her in her successful marriage and she simply said, “I choose to love that man every day, even when he makes me mad”. As I write, I think, what good advice, choose to love.
