HIV symptoms

December 12th, 2009

HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus, affects the body’s immune system. As the condition worsens, the system becomes overwhelmed. It is highly contagious and is often, although not exclusively, spread by sexual contact. Often, there are no specific HIV symptoms, although many maladies can be indicators of the presence of the virus.Because of the attack on the immune system, symptoms will often be mistaken for other conditions such as flu. They can include pains in the muscles and joints, rashes on the skin, headaches, fever and diarrhoea. As the infection worsens, breathing and respiratory problems can develop. Testing for this extremely serious condition is a must.
