Protection with Hearing Protection Headphones
April 16th, 2010
You may not realize it, but just listening to music can permanently damage your hearing. People often have the tendency to turn the volume up when using headphones. To avoid permanent damage to your hearing, wearing hearing protection headphones is absolutely necessary. By using the right headphones, you will be able to listen to your music at a safe level without having to turn the amp up. Damage to your hearing is referred to as Tinnitus. It initially causes ringing in the ears and can lead to more permanent hearing loss. If you are experiencing ringing in your ears, the best thing to do is to stop using your headphones for a while. Give your ears the rest they deserve and need. If you have been listening to music at sound pressure levels over 80 decibels, then you are at high risk for long-term hearing loss if you don’t use the proper protection. If you have the symptoms of Tinnitus, then it is important for you to use some kind of hearing protection the next time you listen to loud music. If you don’t, you are likely to spend the rest of your life not being able to listen to the music you enjoy and love. A temporary loss of hearing can occur anytime you are exposed to a loud noise. When this happens, it may be awhile before your hearing returns to normal. However, if you are exposed to loud noises for an extended period of time, permanent hearing loss is likely to happen. Once your hearing is damaged, it will never be the same. That is why you see construction and factory workers always wearing headphones while they are on the job.
