Building Muscles Through Weight Lifting

Even though I’m a woman I would still like to do some muscle building.  It’s my understanding that most women can not build the kind of muscle size that a man can, regardless of the amount of weight lifting they do.  I am interested in toning up my muscles and building up my muscles in my arms, back, thighs and I want to strengthen the core muscles in my abdomen.  I do not want to build up the muscles in my calves, neck, or back, I just want to make sure they stay toned and strong.  I want to look healthy and be able to eat healthy.
