While remodeling small kitchens the use of light and colors in making the kitchen look bigger cannot be overemphasized. It is one of the small kitchen design ideas that is never forgotten. One of the best ways to brighten up a kitchen and make it look bigger is by recessed lighting where the light is fitted under the cabinet or the counter. Install cabinets with glass doors. This will also make the kitchen look bigger. Use transparent and short curtains on windows to let in maximum light. Light colors make any space look bigger than it actually is. You can use beige, cream or light shades of blue, greens and yellows. Yellows are particularly good at creating an illusion of space. Have a diamond pattern done on the floor with two colors. That will make the floor look longer.
