The Right Chords for the Jazz Music

We were in a practice the other day, and it was really hard for me to keep going because there was a chord that just kept getting on my nerves. I just want people to know that there are ways to play jazz, and there are ways jazz is not supposed to be played. I want to be the kind of person that is able to learn the right jazz guitar chords so I know that I am playing the right way. Without really knowing what is going on, I know there will be times I am not able to do anything more.
