Vertical Pianos Include the Famous Console Piano

September 3rd, 2010

Console pianos are renowned worldwide because they are budget-conscious and available in smaller sizes.  A Console Piano is in the category of vertical pianos, also known as uprights.  These attractive pianos are constructed differently to fit into spaces of all sizes.  Grand pianos require more space than console pianos.  The other four categories of upright pianos are the studio, the professional, the spinet and the consolette.  The top of a spinet barely rises above the keyboard with vertical wires attached to the backs of the keys.  Studio pianos are 42 to 45 inches tall with a short cabinet.  Console pianos have a compact action and are shorter than studio models.
